- Independent Reading
- Notes on character description (overhead)
- Role-play (teenager and parent ~ scenario: teenager approaching parent about curfew)
- Questions to think about after performing the roleplay:
What kinds of roles did you play as parents?
Who played the role of a tough parent? an easy-going parent? a caring parent? an apathetic parent?
What kind of roles did you play as teenagers?
Who played the role of a good teenager? a rebellious teenager? a manipulative teenager?
What kind of language did you use to play your role?
What kind of body language and gestures did you use?
If you were to dress in costume, what would your character wear? How would they style their hair? What props might you use?
Where would this scene take place? Would a different setting change the dialogue and interactions?
Homework: Write a description of the character you played in the role play. Be sure to show what your character is like through: description, actions, dialogue, and setting. Please use 1st person point-of-view.
Wednesday Recap:
- Independent Reading
- Homework Check for descriptive paragraph
- 2nd paragraph/description: Now you need to write a second paragraph from the point-of-view of the "other" character. In other words, if your first paragraph was a description of the teenager, this time you will write the description of the teenager from the point-of-view of the parent.
Please hand in a good copy of both paragraphs tomorrow (typed or blue/black ink ~ double-spaced) with a cover page.
